Passing an ECS health and safety assessment is compulsory prior to submitting an application for an ECS card, unless the candidate holds a recognised health and safety qualification which exempts them.

ELECTROTECHNICAL CERTIFICATION SCHEME IN SCOTLAND

ECS cards in Scotland are only issued by the SJIB but before a card can be obtained applicants must demonstrate they have the required level of health & safety awareness. This can be done either by providing evidence of a valid exemption or by passing the ECS health & safety assessment.

Unite runs these assessments to promote health & safety awareness and best practice in the electrical contracting and construction industry.
