St Mungos strikers

Unite statement on homeless charity St Mungo’s

“Unite the union will be holding a meeting of its members working at the homeless charity St Mungo’s on Wednesday 18 September to chart a way forward in the dispute with management over the erosion of employment conditions.

“Next week’s meeting follows the vote for strike action where 78 per cent voted in favour, but which, by the narrowest of margins, just one vote, failed to reach the 50 per cent threshold required by legislation for strike dates to be announced.  This is hugely disappointing.

“However, the issues in the dispute which our members voted on are still unresolved.  Senior management have consistently refused to move on any of the matters that are of such serious and legitimate concern to our more than 500 members at this charity.

“Unite won’t be commenting further until the 18 September meeting has concluded.”
