The Employment Committee of the European Parliament, on 28 April 2010, rejected the European Commission proposal to exclude self-employed workers from the scope of Directive 2002/15/EC! The rejecting amendment was adopted by 30 to 19 votes.

Unite, the UK’s largest union, reiterated its calls for a total overhaul of the UK's system of truckstops. Unite's call comes as a survey out today (Thursday) reveals that thefts from lorries have risen by 63 per cent in the past year, with most taking place while drivers are parked up and asleep.
