Education

The grocery retail logistic combine have enjoyed a number of educational programmes recently. One such is the training programme given to all members that wish to restructure their place of work and help with confidence building and setting a strong and consistent union within its place off work.

Unites training and conference centre in Eastbourne played host to the events during that week which included a series of high class work shops. This ranged from finding out about your place of work, Pay, holidays, benefits to identifying strengths and weakness in your sector, Union membership and how to build and map the work force for better strength.

The course highlighted how to identify issues around the workers and create newsletters etc.

The biggest story is this web site solely for this combine so we can generate debate and move forward quicker and with a considerable increase in understanding on were we are in this sector amongst all its direct and 2nd and 3rd party suppliers.

What you’ll discover at this training is how little communication that there has been in an industry that’s nearly the single biggest employer within the UK & Ireland.

In addition the course highlighted the number of attacks that are taking place within this sector by the employers on workers Terms & Conditions. The ever increasing use of agency in your place of work. Reducing those terms and to restrict pay and most of all union membership.

The growth of agencies and third party companies that big retail companies are using to cut their costs is most alarming. All of these action are often to the detriment of the workers.
