Driver Training Certificate

This course is an essential qualification for drivers, of any size of vehicle, to carry dangerous goods both in the UK and throughout most of Europe.

Who should attend?

Drivers of goods vehicles of any size wishing to carry dangerous goods.
Drivers already holding ADR who wish to refresh or add to the qualification.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course and satisfactory examination the candidate will be qualified to carry:

  • Packaged dangerous goods, drums, IBC's, unpacked solids, etc.
  • Dangerous goods in tanks, tank containers & iViEGC's.
  • Class 2 (gasses), Class 3 (flammable liquids) Class 4 (flammable substances) Class § (oxidizing agents & organic peroxides) Class S (toxic & infectious) Class 8 (corrosive) & Class 9 (miscellaneous).
  • Instruction will also be given in:
  • Emergency Aid.
  • Fire Fighting.
  • Actions to take in an emergency.
  • Security of dangerous goods.
  • Dangerous waste regulations.
  • Personal protective equipment.

Pre-course activities

You must provide a form of photographic identification. You will also require your drivers licence number, if you have a non-UK licence, or you have any special requirements you must inform us prior to the course. An ADR booklet will be sent to you prior to the course.

5 days (4 days without tanks)

Venues

Most Unite the Union training centres.

Accreditation and certification

On successful completion of this course and pending examination you will receive an ADR Driver-Training certificate issued through SQA by DVLA. You may also obtain 21 hours of Driver CPC whilst attending this course.

Progression route

Classes 1 (explosive) and 7 (radioactive) can be added to you ADR Driver-Training certificate. You may also attend two Seven-hour DCPC courses to complete your 35-hour requirement.

Goods vehicle drivers of any size of vehicle, in 2007 the 3.5 tonne threshold was withdrawn, wishing to carry dangerous goods.

  • Class 9 (miscellanious)

 

21 hours of the Driver CPC can be obtained whilst attending this course.
