Road transport commercial, logistics and retail distribution
Unite's Road transport commercial, logistics and retail
distribution trade group covers over 100,000 lorry and van
drivers, together with warehouse staff and other back-up employees.
Overall, some 140,000 Unite members work in transportation, so
get involved with the union that fights back for workers in
transport/logistics to give it its modern name.
The sector organises across all areas of the industry. As well
as warehouse and support, Unite is active in all aspects of road
transport/logistics, in the milk industry, from collection, through
processing towards delivery, Unigate, St. Ivel, Co-op Milk and
Express Dairies are key companies where the union is
organised. Famous names like Excel Logistics, Reality and TNT,
Wincanton are all liveries driven by road transport
commercial, logistics and retail distribution members.
In addition, the parcels sector is another growing force which has
seen a significant advance in membership in recent years and the
sector also covers all other groups of drivers and logistic workers
in general haulage (hire and reward), in chemical and oil, petrol
distribution, car collection and heavy haulage. Unite is
the transport workers union!
