Local authorities
Unite represents
thousands of workers employed by local authorities in the UK, from
large metropolitan areas to small district councils.
Members are employed in a
diverse range of jobs within local authorities,
including estate management and maintenance, finance,
administration, vehicle maintenance, street lighting and
community projects.
As Britain's biggest union in
the private sector, Unite also provides an expert lead in
organising and providing representation in private companies and
contractors where the work has been outsourced by local
authorities.
We want members and
activists to take part in our campaign to protect 'People, Pay and
Pensions' in local government - click on the campaign logo opposite
to find out more.

You can also download
a 'Unite in local government' poster and leaflet for your
workplace.

Trade Union Facility Time is a crucial union resource and if seriously undermined could acutely jeopardise the ability of the unions to represent members effectively.
We must ensure we defend our Facility Time Agreements
