Unite recognises the need for increased investment in skills and that action must be taken to address the skills shortages.

 
The e-skills UK Quarterly Review reports that 34 per cent of establishment with IT vacancies, 'IT positions often were proving difficult to fill and as a result a significant number appear to be suffering from, amongst other things, delays in new product launches, increased operating costs and difficulty meeting customer service objectives.'
 
e-skills UK acts as the voice of employers on IT, Telecoms and Contact Centres to create the skills environment that businesses need to be productive and competitive.  Further information on the skills gap and the needs of industry is available from their website.
