Mary Duggan
Mary Duggan is married with three children and has worked as
both staff nurse and staff midwife before becoming a health visitor
in 1983.
She has worked full time in Homefirst
Community Trust since 1984, six of those years employed as
Specialist Health Visitor in Mental Health Directorate working
specifically with postnatally depressed clients and their families
on a one to one basis and in group therapy. She currently is
Trainer for PND within the Trust, largest community Trust in
Northern Ireland.
Mary also had a six-month secondment with
Travelling Community in Homefirst in 2004 and received
acknowledgement from Dr Frawley, Assembly Ombudsman for her work
with this marginalised group.
Mary also is very interested in Community
Development and looks forward to supporting CPHVA members become
more involved in this area of work.
Mary has been an active member of Northern
Centre for some time, holding post as Secretary and currently
Chair. She is also an LAR.
Mary acknowledges that the past year has
been a particularly difficult time for health visitors with
implementation of Hall 4, AFC and Review of Public Administration.
She hopes to support members and provide leadership in a new era of
health visiting which will result in increased morale and clarity
of role.
