Unite 4 our NHS
SAVE OUR NHS – SAVE THE
DATE
Wednesday, 7 March
Mass lobby of parliament and
rally in Westminster
Our NHS is our greatest
national achievement. Only it ensures that
access to health care is based on need, not wealth. It has
cared for generations of working people, improving their health and
their life chances. And it places fairness at the heart of our
society.
But this is all in desperate danger.
The coalition’s Health and Social Care Bill will destroy the
NHS. It will place it in the hands of business and put profit
before patient care. Those who can pay will go to the top of
the queue. The poor will get what is left. And at a time
of severe austerity, it saddles the NHS with a reorganisation bill
of £4 billion.
We must drop this bill.
It is currently making its way through the House of Lords,
expected to return to the Commons after Easter for final
consideration. That means in a matter of weeks this will
be law.
Unite is working with union partners to organise a day of
protest at Parliament on Wednesday, 7 March from 2pm and
ending at 7.30pm. Plans for the day are still being finalised
but we are asking you to SAVE THE DATE.
Very soon, Unite will be posting regular updates and materials
about the day. Please keep an eye out for the latest news and help
spread the word far and wide. If you have any questions, please
contact Chantal.chegrinec@unitetheunion.org.
This is an emergency. We must not let this government
destroy our NHS - and we will not stand by while they take it from
us.
Unite needs your help to stop David Cameron destroying
our NHS.
Time is running out for the NHS. The Health and Social Care Bill
presents a huge threat to the NHS as we know it, and is slowly but
surely making its way through Parliament. But it's not too
late.
Please take two minutes to sign and share
the 'Drop the Bill' e-petition and help us reach 100,000
signatures to force a debate in Parliament.
Act to save the NHS – before it is gone for
good
The government’s Health and Social Care Bill sets out the
biggest ‘reform’ of the NHS in its history – at a time of
unprecedented cuts of £20bn, over four years.
Unite remains opposed to this bill and wants it scrapped.
They are worried that this bill will:
- Bring back a postcode lottery. Where you live will matter
more than the care you need.
- Turn doctors into accountants, when they should be caring for
patients
- cost billions at a time when billions in cuts are being imposed
on our health service.
- Is untested – there is not one shred of evidence that this will
improve health or patient care.
- Force hospitals to compete – or close – and force frontline
staff out of work.
- Begin a rapid slide to privatisation and the introduction of
social insurance, so only those who can pay will get decent
care.
Your actions can help save our NHS. Time is
running out though – we need you to act NOW.
So please, today:
The NHS’s founder, Bevan, said that the NHS will last as long as
there are people willing to fight for it.
Well, the NHS needs you to fight for it
now.
Take this fight to your friends, family, neighbours and
colleagues. Print off the campaign flyers,
myth buster and
petition and
start handing them out in your local community.
When you have needed the NHS throughout your life, it has been
there. Now the NHS needs you.
Join our campaign and send the message loud and clear to
the government - Don't destroy our NHS!
