National pay agreement 2010

The BPIF (Print Employers Organisation) have told Unite they have “no mandate” from their companies to offer a pay increase for 2010.

* In 2009 thousands of Unite members working in print made sacrifices to save jobs and companies – when inflation was below 0%

* Inflation (RPI) is now 3.7%

*Unite’s negotiating panel - consisting of lay reps and officials - has described the BPIF’s decision as "irresponsible, short sighted and not in the best interests of the industry".

* The BPIF agreed with us that some companies have used the recession to needlessly drive down pay and conditions.

*We agree with the BPIF - the outlook for the printing industry is getting better.

*Your union reps have been written to and asked to call chapel meetings and to make a pay claim with your company for 3.7% for 2010.

*Unite will support chapels and members to secure a pay increase for 2010.
