Unite fully supporting the new ‘Print Futures Awards’ 2009

5 February 2009

A scholarship scheme jointly sponsored by the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) and Unite, the UK’s biggest print union, has been launched under a new name of ‘Print Futures Awards’ 2009, its sixth year of operation.

With Unite’s help the awards have been rejuvenated and launched along with a new name and style to catch the imagination of young people in the print sector. It will assist young people in funding their education and training for a career in the printing and graphic arts industries.

Winners of the £2,500 prize in the past have included students on established print and print management courses, graphic design students, employees of family owned print businesses and print technicians.

Tony Burke, Unite Assistant General Secretary, said: “Unite has made a long term commitment to this project and we are proud to be associated with it. At this time of financial downturn it is important to help young people coming into the print and graphical industry and working with the BPIF and PCC is a good way to help.”
