PCC extends help to printer flood victims

Following its announcement earlier this week
that it plans to help printers and printer families affected by the
floods in South Yorkshire, the Printers’ Charitable Corporation
(PCC) has now announced is has extended its offer
of help to flood victims nationally.
The PCC Council, meeting in London today
(July 26), has increased the money it is making available to
£250,000 so as offer help to printers in Hull, Gloucestershire,
Worcestershire and Berkshire in addition to Yorkshire.
The help is planned as immediate grants
of up to £250 each to fund personal and family necessities
for people, who have been forced from their homes and in some cases
lost most of their possessions. Those eligible will include
printers, ex-printers and workers in the print, paper, publishing,
inks and print consumables industries and their dependants.
PCC Director Stephen Gilbert said: “I am
delighted that as the industry’s leading Charity we have been able
to offer help to all printers and their families wherever they have
been affected by the terrible events of recent weeks.”

The PCC is the premier national charity for
the UK printing and graphic arts industries. Established
since 1827, the PCC operates a 40-bed nursing home at Bletchley and
a total of 72 sheltered apartments for the elderly at Bletchley and
Basildon. The Charity also offers an extensive welfare
programme and is involved in the education and training of young
people.
