FAQ
We are asked lots of questions by Lloyds
Banking Group staff about union membership and a range of other
things; here are some of our most frequently asked questions:
Q. Who can join Unite
A. Anyone can join Unite, no matter where they
work or the terms of their contract; whether it is casual,
temporary, fixed term or permanent, full time or part time.
Q.How do I join?
A. Becoming a member of unite is simple; just click here or call
0845 850 4242
Membership costs £11.48 per month for full
time workers or £5.72 for part time (Less than 20 hours).
Q. How do I get
involved?
A: If you are interested in becoming involved in
any way, whether you would like to be a rep, distribute information
to your colleagues, or to be a contact point who we speak to on a
regular basis in order to exchange information, then please get in
touch with your local representative or e-mail us at lbg.support@unitetheunion.org
Q. Why should I join a
union?
A. If you have any problem at work it makes sense
to have someone on your side. A Trade Union provides support
and representation for members on all work related issues. A
union is there to improve your pay and conditions and only a strong
trade union can win a better deal for the workforce and ensure you
get a fair deal in all areas of your working life. Being a union
member also gives you a voice in your workplace, as we take a lead
from our members on issues to address with LBG management.
Q. Can I get in trouble for
joining a union?
A. You have a legal right to be a member of a
Trade Union. Employers cannot legally treat anyone negatively
for being or proposing to become a union member, or for taking part
in the union's activities at an appropriate time.
Q. I have a problem at work,
what should I do?
A. If you are a member of Unite then you should
contact your local rep in the first instance, or contact the Unite
helpline for LBG members on 08081 449595 who will
be able to offer you advice and support or refer you to the
relevant person within Unite.
