About the Education Sector
Unite Education Sector covers all
areas of education in the UK and Ireland
Our members can be found in Universities Colleges, Tertiary,
Secondary, Primary and Nursery establishments in the UK and
Ireland. We also have members who work with organisations providing
educational support to any of the above mentioned educational
establishments.
Unite members
include:
Academic and
academic related staff. These are normally drawn from
our NHS professional groups research specific academic related
members or tutors working in Universities or Colleges in both the
UK and Ireland.
Technical
staff. These are normally covering technicians, laboratory
staff or senior managers heads of departments particularly but not
restricted to higher education institutions.
IT staff and
computer professional. These are generally working in
universities colleges or schools in the UK and Ireland
Clerical and
administration staff. Our staff in these areas range from
administrators or departmental managers to clerical and secretarial
staff across all kinds of education establishments. Universities,
colleges, schools and nurseries.
Estates and craft staff. These provide
infrastructure support within universities colleges and schools.
These staff will range from electricians, heating engineers,
supervisors, domestic staff, cleaners security staff, porters
plumbers, gardeners and other specific craft roles.
Students. Students are also encouraged to
join Unite as many students also have part time work to assist
with maintaining their education. There is a low special student
membership rate.
