Joint Industry Board (JIB) funding for further education or training in the electrical contracting industry

From 1st June 2006, the JIB (Joint Industry Board for the Electrical Contracting Industry) will be inviting applications for financial assistance from those wishing to undertake further training or education in the electrical contracting industry. This new initiative has been developed by the parties to the JIB being Amicus and the ECA.
 
The JIB Chairman Sir Michael Latham says "I am delighted that the JIB through its Further Education Fund Committee is taking a proactive role in funding further training". 
 
Applicants must be JIB graded operatives participating in the JIB Combined Benefits Scheme or JIB registered apprentices. Funding will be provided for:
 
  1. People training for advanced positions in the industry
  2. Courses or instruction in subjects related to the industry
  3. Travel and research in connection with the study and development of subjects related to the industry; and
  4. The promotion of further education and advancement in the Industry
 
The JIB will also consider funding for individuals who are undertaking research for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
 
Where an application meets the criteria and is successfully accepted, the JIB will fund 50 per cent of any course fees to a maximum of £500.
 
Funding is limited and any monies will be distributed on a first come first served basis. Applications will only be eligible from 1st June 2006 to 31st May 2007.
