Introduction

The Association of Professional Tourist Guides (APTG) is the professional body of London's Blue Badge guides, many of whom are registered with other tourist boards in the UK.

APTG is an autonomous group within Unite and is committed to promoting the highest possible standards in tourism in general and guiding in particular. Each year the APTG publishes a set of minimum fees which members are required to adher to, they hold monthly meetings at which members debate and vote on policy issues and they publish a monthly magazine - Guidelines - in which members are invited to share their knowledge, experiences and opinions. The guide also includes a diary of opening times, special events, exhibitions and closures at key tourist sites.

The APTG campaigns on safety issues, runs a training and development programme for members and plays an active role in the Federation of European Guides. The section also provides public liability insurance for members as part of the membership package.
