Putting You First campaign
Unite believes
you matter – that’s the raison d’être of the union. You are a
unique person in your workplace who makes a valuable contribution
to service users, through campaigning and the services you deliver
every working day.
You are skilled resource to your organisation. And the fact that
you do what you do and are who you are makes a real difference to
the lives of many.
When was the last time you were really valued at work?
In a culture of More for Less, work
intensification, of getting the most out of each worker for as
little as possible, for pushing you, unsupported, beyond what is
reasonable, and then saying that ‘you could try harder’ has become
the language of abrasive management.
We are going to change this culture.
Mahatma Gandhi once famously said 'be the change that you want
to see,' so we all have a role in ensuring that we
'do-as-you-would-be-done-by' through remembering to value the
contribution of others, as well as the people themselves, while at
the same time, helping the organisation to place more value of each
person who works for them.
Unfortunately, an organisation’s founding principles are all too
often far removed the employee’s routine experience in the
workplace.
In launching the Putting You First campaign, we want
you to tell us why you matter in your workplace – what is it that
you bring to your organisation.
Tell us why you matter
