  • All amendments must be agreed at a properly convened branch or committee meeting
  • Any amendment that does not comply with this guidance could to be ruled out of order by the Standing Orders Committee.

Delegates to conference

In accordance with rule the Unite Executive Council has agreed the distribution of delegates to this conference. Delegates will be elected mainly by and from the Regional Industrial Sector Committees (RISCs) and substitute delegates will be elected.  A small number of delegates are elected by some National Industrial Sector Committees.

In addition each Region is entitled to elect additional delegates from their Regional Committee and delegates to represent LGBT and disabled members.

Delegates are required to attend conference from Saturday 23 June to Thursday 28 June and hotel accommodation is booked centrally for them. Unite will write to delegates with further information about the conference including accommodation, they should not book accommodation direct. A crèche for the children of delegates will be provided during conference sessions.

Young members at conference

The general secretary has decided that we should invite 100 young activists to attend the conference as observers, with full right to participate (but not to vote) in order to open up the conference to young members who might find it difficult to be elected as delegates. Regions have been asked to identify young members who can attend conference in this capacity.
