Unite executive council election 2011
The Unite executive council will hold office from 1 May 2011 to
30 April 2014 and the full list of members is listed on the
following page: Unite executive council
members.
The June 2011 Rules Conference amended the rules to allow for
national representation on the Executive for Disabled and Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual or Transgender (LGBT) members. Accordingly, it
is necessary to hold a ballot to elect two new members of the Unite
Executive Council who shall hold office until 30 April
2014.
The timetable for the election will be:

Voting papers are being despatched to members. A list of
branches and workplaces that nominated candidates is available
here. Please note that Sean McGovern was the sole nominee for
the Disabled Members constituency and will therefore be declared
elected on 22 February 2012.
Members who have not received a ballot paper by 8
February 2012 should contact the Independent Scrutineer,
Electoral Reform Services. The Independent Scrutineer shall
determine the member's eligibility to vote in accordance with rule
and whether to send further ballot papers.
A notice has been sent to branch secretaries and can be
downloaded from this page for display on branch or workplace notice
boards.
Please note that in the election for the LGBT seat, the
following four branches are listed as nominating Harry MaAnulty in
the candidates address booklet distributed to members with their
ballot paper.

Ballot papers are computer counted and the count
verification process will be held at the offices of the Independent
Scrutineer, Electoral Reform Services, The Election Centre, 33
Clarendon Road, London N8 0NW. In accordance with rule you are
entitled to attend or be represented at the count verification
which will take place on the afternoon of 22 February 2012.
Candidates may attend the verification or send a
representative. In accordance with the ballot rules and
guidelines for this election it is not be possible for candidates
or their representatives to be accompanied.
