The Research Department provides
advice and support to Unite Officers, shop stewards and
members on a full range of work-related issues and is responsible
for the production of a range of
research guides available in hard copy and
on-line.
It is also responsible for assisting in the preparation of the
union's
submissions to government, TUC and other outside organisations
on a wide range of policy issues as well as writing and researching
industry specific publications. The department works closely
with other key union service departments such as
Communications, International, Legal and the Political Unit.
The overall purpose of the department is to provide a centralised
support service to all parts of the union and specifically to
assist the union’s decision makers and key representatives with
clear information and analysis to equip them for effective
performance and informed decision-making in the
development of union policy.
