Unite the Union urges members to “Join the Party!”
Unite is working to create a Labour Party that works for our
union members because ‘Together we’re stronger’.
Strong political activity is at the heart of ensuring that the
future policies of Labour answer the needs, beliefs and aspirations
of union members. Being a member of both Unite and the Labour Party
is the key to increasing the influence union members have over the
future direction of the party.
It is a fact that a record number of people joined the Labour
Party since the General Election and since Ed Miliband was elected
as leader. Against the background of betrayal by the Liberal
Democrats and Conservative cuts for those who did not cause the
recession, hundreds of Unite members have already joined the
thousands who have joined Labour to fight back.
The more Unite members who join the Labour Party the more
influence we will have for you, your family and your union
colleagues. Influence over how the policies to take on the ConDems
are shaped to mean a better deal for jobs and skills now and a
fairer future.
There has never been a more important time for union members to
join the Labour Party and be part of shaping a future Labour Party
government that really represents ordinary trade union
members.
