Unions Together
At the Labour Party's National Policy Forum
in Warwick in July 2004, Amicus recently reached agreement with the
government on a wide-range of future policy commitments. In common
with other unions, Amicus now needs your help to ensure that the
Labour government is re-elected for a third term to see those
commitments through. Click on the logo to the right to volunteer to
help the unions' campaign.
Action for Southern Africa
Action for
Southern Africa campaigns with the people of Southern Africa as
they strive for a better future. Working with ACTSA Amicus
hopes to bring together Amicus members with colleagues in
South Africa and its neighbouring southern African states.
Justice for
Columbia
Justice for Colombia (JFC) is the TUC-backed
coalition of 40 national trade unions (including Amicus) that
supports the Colombian people and trade union movement in their
struggle for peace with social justice. Numerous union regions,
branches and trades councils, along with a number of NGOs,
academics and MPs, are also affiliated to JFC.
Colombia is overwhelmingly the most dangerous
place in the world to be a trade unionist. Thousands have been
killed in recent years by the Colombian army and their allies in
the paramilitary death squads. JFC campaigns to ensure that United
Nations human rights recommendations are implemented and
International Labour Organisation rules are adhered to. JFC
regularly takes delegations to Colombia and arranges visits by
Colombians to the UK.
The Left Field
Following its successful inception at
Glastonbury 2002, and spectacular success at the 2003 and 2004
festivals, 2005 sees the Left Field return to Glastonbury. Bigger,
better and angrier than ever the Left Field has teamed up with
Amicus to reaffirm the spirit of political debate among festival
goers, promoting the value of trade union membership and collective
campaigning.
