Two new MAs from the Working Lives Research Institute and Centre
forTrade Union Studies
Active in the trade union movement, the
social, community, non-governmental or voluntary sector and wish to
enhance your own working life? Starting in February 2011 the
Working Lives Research Institute and Centre for Trade Union Studies
offer two related part-time MAs:
*A NEW MA Work and Social Change (WSC)*
Want to understand the changing world of work, globalisation and
social
change? This part-time course encourages you to reflect and draw
upon
your professional experience and develop your own theoretical
approach
and practical research skills. It looks at employment relations,
the
history and sociology of work, social identities and collectivity
and
debates about human and social capital.
*MA Labour and Trade Union Studies (LTUS)*
This postgraduate course provides an advanced study of labour
movement
history, theory and practice. It places the labour movement within
the
context of national and international development of the
capitalist
economy, as well as within the dominant, political and
ideological
framework of society, both current and historical.
For both MAs you will produce an original piece of research related
to
the course, your work and/or interests.
The Working Lives Research Institute and Centre for Trade Union
Studies
also offer a professional doctorate in Researching Work, a BA in
Labour
and Trade Union Studies as well as a range of Certificates in
Professional Development in trade union studies.
