Essential Skills Awards
Last month one of our learners Alastair
McCormick who works for Dale Farm was nominated and received the
Trade Union Learner of 2010 category. Well, on the day at
Hillsborough Castle, I'm delighted to say he also picked up the
Overall Winner for N.Ireland.
It was a huge surprise as the Trade Unions
never fare too well outside our own category.
This was widely covered in all the NI papers
and also the Co. Antrim papers. Dale Farm has requested a meeting
with me to bring the courses into their workplaces and the Mayor of
Ballymena even wrote a letter of congratulations to Alastair.
Also Michelle Elliot (Langford Lodge learner
& ULR) lifted 2 runner-up awards: Trade Union category and Co.
Antrim Category.
Unite Union Learning Fund (ULF) activity is
highly recognised within N.Ireland and I'm very proud to have the
ULR team that I do.
