Cuba Solidarity Campaign
Unite supports Cuba and the rights of the Cuban people to
self-determination, for 30 years it has been under interference
from the US. The trade blockade imposed by the United States is
economic, commercial and financial and has been in place since
1962. US hostility to Cuba has increased despite SIX specific UN
General Assembly resolutions, passed with overwhelming majorities
and almost no opposition, demanding the total, immediate and
unconditional lifting of the US blockade. Despite the economic
hardships suffered by this embargo Cuba has been able to guarantee
and deliver basic rights to its citizens such as cheap food, social
security, free health care and education up to university
level.
Unite through its work with the Cuba Solidarity campaign

has assisted with developing more effective lobbying and activities
by the European trade unions against the US blockade and aggression
on behalf of Cuba.
