The Civil Partnership Act 2004
The Civil Partnership Act came into force on the 5 December
2005. As well as providing for the legal registration of same
sex partners, the Act amends the 2003 Sexual Orientation
Regulations.
This means than an employee should not be treated less
favourably because they are in a civil partnership and that all
benefits currently available to married employees should also be
available to employees in a civil partnership.
