Black History Month

Latest update - October 2010

Black History Month is held every October in Britain. The aims are to:

  • Promote knowledge of Black History and experience
  • Disseminate information on positive Black contributions to British Society
  • Heighten the confidence and awareness of Black people in their cultural heritage

There is still much to do in this country to achieve equality for Black and minority ethnic people (BME).  Many are still facing persistent disadvantage, discrimination and bullying and harassment at work.  So use October as the month to promote Black history and race equality at work.
