Equalities updates
Equalities conferences 2012
The Unite national equalities
conferences are taking place in the Winter Gardens Eastbourne
from 1-3 March 2012.
LGBT history month 2012
In February 2005 the first LGBT History Month was celebrated in
the UK. This is a month to recognise and celebrate the contribution
of LGBT people to society. Unite celebrates LGBT History Month and
uses this opportunity to take action on LGBT equality at work, in
the community and internationally. Download the checklist for LGBT
action for Unite reps.
Holocaust Memorial Day
|
27 January is Holocaust Memorial Day and Unite is asking
activists and members to kindly circulate this Unite
factsheet as widely as possible. This year's message of
'Speaking Up and Speaking Out' against hatred and prejudice is a
continuing challenge for all, not just on Holocaust memorial Day
but throughout the year. Unite's equalities department is building
links and will continue to work with HMD UK and would ask that
regions and branches contribute to this important campaign and
consider ways of commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day in 2013 and
onwards.
