El Sueño Existe - The Dream Lives On - 12/13/14 August 2011

Unite, the UK’s largest trade union, is proudly sponsoring this years El Sueño Existe Festival in Machynlleth, Powys, Wales from 12 – 14 August.

A colourful mix of artists and dreamers will converge in Machynlleth on 12 - 14 August to celebrate the 4th El Sueño Existe festival. The El Sueño Existe festival is a vibrant fusion of Welsh and Latin American music, dance, poetry, theatre and political discussion.

The festival takes inspiration from Victor Jara, the Chilean theatre director and singer-songwriter who has become an enduring symbol of the struggle for human rights and justice across Latin America. This year’s theme ‘Yma o Hyd/Against All Odds’, signifies the resilience of social movements in Latin America and Wales in preserving their integrity and culture.

Andy Richards, Unite regional secretary in Wales, said: “Unite is proud to support this event because it chimes perfectly with many of the core values that our union holds dear, socialism, solidarity and the promotion of peace around the world. Our union will be using this year’s festival to promote the issue of trade union rights in Columbia.”

Keith Jackson, festival chairman, added: "The 2011 festival, the fourth since our first in 2005, looks like it’s going to be the best ever, with interesting debates, workshops, theatre and a packed music programme- there really is something for everyone."

The festival is a small, family friendly volunteer run event with a relaxed atmosphere - for more information visit www.elsuenoexiste.com
