North West Region - Education
Welcome to the Unite North
West Region Education Home page. Here in the North West we have a
dedicated team of lay tutors, tutors and administrative staff whose
aim is to provide the most up to date training for activists and
other members that we can.
The Education Development Organiser (EDO)
heading up the team is Michael Bond. If you have any comments,
questions or suggestions about training – particularly any which
aimed at increasing the skills our activists need to build on the 3
pillars of Unite, please get in touch - email: Michael.Bond@UnitetheUnion.org
Alternatively, for questions about courses,
contact our departmental administrators Lesley or Rachel by e-mail;
by telephone on 0161 848 0909 or in writing to Education
Department; Unite the Union; Merchants Quay; Salford Quays;
Salford; M50 3SG. (email: Lesley.Wilkinson@UnitetheUnion.org
and Rachel.Bishop@UnitetheUnion.org )
Unite education is central to supporting the
way Unite operates. It is our role to train reps and activists to
deliver for our members and keep them up to date. Training covers
such areas as:-
Organising in the workplace to improve
working conditions - whether it is around industrial,
health& safety, learning, equality or any other issues.
Political lobbying to improve members
lives at home and at work – whether it is stopping fascist
organisations advancing their unpleasant divisive agenda or
fighting to maintain local skills and services etc.
Joining together with other working
people across the world to raise standards for us all -
whether around global issues like the environment or challenging
multi-national companies playing worker against worker in a race to
lower pay and conditions.
