makes submissions to government and agencies or issues papers on
the current economic situation in the Republic of Ireland. Here you
will find those reports/papers/submissions, and those we are
associated with, which you may find of interest.
Arguing for an alternative economic
policy
INVEST NOW in JOBS, GROWTH and FISCAL STABILITY
Unite has been campaigning for a growth alternative since the
economic crisis began. We have published analysis, forecasts,
submission and policy papers.
Workers’ living standards and workplace conditions are essential
to economic recovery. We cannot create a modern, prosperous
economy – and an inclusive, equal society – if we drive down wages
and working conditions. Unite has produced a flyer “Growing
the Economy” for our members to download.

damaging the social and economic fabric of society.
Members may find
Unite's Economic and Budgetary Strategy document useful
which outlines UNITE's position and welcomes ICTU's pre-budget
submission.
UNITE members, together with members in other trade unions and
community groups throughout the country will be marching in Dublin
on the 26th in support of growth and job creation and in protest
against austerity, its impact on people and its failure to fix the
economy.
The march will start from the Garden of Remembrance, leaving at
12 noon. Members, their families and friends are encouraged
to join those who are saying stop.

A People's Budget
In December 2010, Unite published an alternative ‘People’s
Budget’ which is based on investment from existing resources, job
creation and a growth led reduction of the deficit. The document
outlines how this budget will be more effective than the Government
plan and how it will foster growth to escape from the vicious
economic recession which threatens to blight Ireland for a decade
or more. Click here to view the document.
