The First Irish Policy Conference of
Unite - 23/24 May 2011 - Greenisle Hotel, Dublin
Hundreds of delegates representing the near 100,000 members of
UNITE across the island of Ireland attended and took part in
rigorous debate over the many and varied motions that were placed
before the Conference.
Many hundreds more tuned into the conference via the live stream
which was broadcast online. In the coming days we will make
available videos of the debates.
Some of the main outcomes may also be reviewed by looking at
statements in the Latest News from Ireland section of this website.
This was an historic occasion for UNITE. It was our first
conference in Ireland since the full constitutional integration of
the union in May 2009. This created a new structure of lay
constitutional committees, and greater involvement of all workplace
representatives. It is in these structures and the activity in the
workplaces that the idea of UNITE really comes to life.
At the conference, we showed a willingness to work together,
with a unity of purpose, to ensure that the difficulties which are
being experienced across the island can be confronted and
resolved.
We will now move forward to represent the interests of our
members with passion and strength. Click here to view and download
a copy of the Agenda. A
full report of the conference will be available for dowloading at a
later date.
