Unite 100% toolbox

Introduction - a message from Unite general
secretary Len McCluskey
Everyone can see the sustained attacks on people’s living
standards, working conditions, futures and pensions by the
government and bad employers plus the attacks on our public
services and welfare state. We need to show people why being in
Unite can help defend them.
That’s why we’ve launched 100% Unite.
It’s about bringing trade unionism into every workplace with the
confidence that we can win for our members and build a sustained
organisation that builds even stronger workplaces.
In workplaces where we have high numbers of members, employers
have to listen to us. The more people in Unite, the stronger we’ll
be as a union. The stronger we are, the more resources we’ll have
to organise in more workplaces. It’s a simple message that goes to
the heart of 100% Unite.
Everywhere we must ask ourselves is everyone a member of Unite
and if not, why not? What do we have to do to ensure everyone is a
member?
We are, and must be, ambitious on behalf of the thousands of
working men and women who face job insecurity and attacks on their
working conditions and pensions.
We have to talk to them, listen to what they say and persuade
them that being in Unite does and will make a difference for them
and, importantly, everyone in the workplace.
Starting where we have organisation, we want to ensure everyone
in those workplaces, who benefit from the agreements we have
negotiated, joins Unite.
From there we’ll roll the campaign out and ultimately want all
the workplaces where there are Unite members to get involved. If
you want to nominate your workplace, then download the application form to be a 100%
target. We’ll then talk you through the process of
what you need to do and how we can help you.
You can also see a range of sample materials and briefings to
help you get started on 100%. We’ll add to these and update them as
we move forward to help you organise, win new members and win in
your workplace.
