Update on today’s BA cabin crew meeting in Kempton
25th February 2010
Unite BA cabin crew met today and unanimously backed the work of
their negotiating team attempting to resolve the current dispute
with the company.
Assistant general secretary Len McCluskey congratulated the
cabin crew on having stood firm in the face of sustained management
harassment and said that: “only negotiation, not intimidation or
litigation can keep BA flying.”
The meeting empowered the negotiating team to continue their work
to reach a settlement in the row over crew number reductions and
other changes to conditions, and to propose strike dates to Unite’s
joint general secretaries for authorisation if it proves impossible
to reach such an agreement through negotiation.
Unite’s BA cabin crew gave an overwhelming mandate for such
action if needs be in a ballot, the result of which was announced
last Monday
