Unite reaction to speculation of further RBS job losses
5 January 2012
David Fleming, Unite national officer, said: “Speculation that
the Royal Bank of Scotland is considering cutting a further 10,000
staff is appalling. This 83 per cent state supported institution
has already announced 22,000 job losses across the group in the UK.
Unite is disgusted that the workforce of RBS has today read in the
media that further job losses are being considered. This constant
speculation and rumour is highly concerning for those who work for
RBS.
“Unite is today writing to management to call on them to engage
with Unite the union on their plans for RBS in the UK, it is vital
that they develop a strategy for saving jobs at all levels.”
