Unite meets with energy minister and administrators to discuss Coryton oil refinery

Senior officials from Unite have met with the energy minister, Charles Hendry, Price Waterhouse Coopers and senior managers from the Coryton refinery today (2 February) to discuss the current situation at the refinery.

Unite national officer, Linda McCulloch, said: "The situation at Coryton refinery is fluid but we remain cautiously optimistic about finding a buyer. PwC and senior management from the refinery stressed their gratitude for the hard work and dedication of the workers at the refinery and their union Unite.

"Unite remains in constant contact with the administrators and the government and the union will continue to assist in every way possible to find a buyer for the refinery."
