Unite calls on Ford to return to the negotiating table after hourly
paid workers reject pay offer
8 November 2011
Unite is urging car manufacturer Ford to return to the
negotiating table after hourly paid staff working for Ford UK
rejected the company's annual pay offer.
This follows concerns over the closure of the final salary
pension scheme to new starters and a new starter hourly pay rate
which falls below the majority of the workers' expectations.
Unite national officer, Roger Maddison said: "The union and the
company have now reached a crucial stage in the negotiations. The
majority of hourly paid staff have made it clear that they have
concerns about the pay rates for new starters and the closure of
the final salary pension scheme. We now hope that Ford UK will
return to the negotiating table to hammer out a negotiated
settlement which we believe is possible."
