Stop Lansley's pillage of our NHS
21 September 2011
WHEN: Thursday 22 September 2011, 6.30pm
WHERE: Nottingham Mechanics, North Sherwood
Street, NG1 4EZ
Unite, the UK’s largest union, along with ‘Keep our NHS Public’,
is hosting a public meeting tomorrow (Thursday), as part of a
campaign to rally the Nottingham public to 'Save our NHS: Kill
Lansley's amended' bill'.
Unite regional health sector lead officer Garry Guye, said: “If
this Health and Social Care bill goes through, it will be a
disaster for patients. It does nothing to address the big issues
and is just a massive untested re-organisation. It is clear that
this government cannot be trusted with the NHS and this meeting
will show the true meaning and the motives behind the bill.
“David Cameron promised he would not privatise the NHS. Yet the
Health and Social Care bill will open up lucrative NHS contracts to
private healthcare companies whose main aim is to maximise profits
for its shareholders. With the huge cuts to NHS funding, Unite
wants already limited money to be spent on patient care.”
The meeting will be chaired by Garry Guye, Unite regional health
sector lead officer, who is keen to encourage a vigorous debate.
The meeting will be addressed by professor Wendy Savage, co-chair
of Keep our NHS Public together with Barrie Brown, Unite national
officer and Gill George of the Unite health section.
Refreshments will be available.
