Further talks to be held with Thomas Cook over nearly 500 cabin
crew redundancies
3 November 2011
Further talks will be held between Thomas Cook and Unite’s
national officials in Manchester next Wednesday (9 November) over
plans to make 498 cabin crew redundant.
Talks were held in Manchester yesterday (Wednesday 2 November)
after the cabin crew, members of Unite, the UK’s largest union,
voted overwhelmingly in a consultative ballot in favour of
industrial action.
Unite regional officer Mick Whitley said today: ”Further talks
will be held next Wednesday and Unite won’t be making any comment
until after those consultations have been concluded.”
Unite represents about 1,150 of the 1,800-strong cabin crew
workforce. The crews fly from Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol,
Cardiff, East Midlands Gatwick, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle and
Stansted airports.
