CBI's proposals will deny workers any voice in their working lives
4 October 2010
Commenting on the CBI’s call to allow companies to use agency
staff to cover striking workers Unite joint general secretary, Tony
Woodley, said: "Agency workers are already mistreated by employers
and used to undercut wages. They need equal treatment, not
employers further misusing them to prolong industrial disputes.
"The CBI's proposals are not designed to improve industrial
relations but instead to deny workers any voice in their working
lives. If the coalition government pays heed to these proposals
then it will confirm the worst fears of working people, which is
that this administration has no care for or understanding of their
concerns."
