BA strike update day 22

9th June 2010

Day 22, the final day at Bedfont FC, BA's bill for the 22-day strike alone stands at £154 million.

Following revelations in yesterday's press that not only are volunteer crew being rude to and about passengers, but that homophobic slurs against crew are going unpunished by BA, today  will see a show of solidarity with strikers wearing pink in support of colleagues under attack.

Len McCluskey, Unite assistant general secretary, will address cabin crew at Bedfont at 1pm.  He will praise crew for their dignified stance throughout the dispute in the face of unprecedented intimidation by BA management.

Yesterday, BA once again failed to operate 43 per cent of its reduced schedule.  Today, will see a reduced schedule also with continued heavy reliance on other airlines including Czech Air, Jet 2 and Aer Lingus to keep the European schedule functioning, and Iberia and Qantas doing the same with the long haul routes.
