Unite statement on fatality at Arjo Wiggins’ Ivybridge Mill

Unite has been made aware of the death of one of its members at
the Arjo Wiggins paper mill in Ivybridge.
Unite officials are on site and have been in contact with the
company, the Health & Safety Executive and the Employers
Federation, the Confederation of Paper Industries. Unite is
expecting to issue a joint statement with the Health & Safety
Executive and the company when more details are known and Unite
will also be involved in the investigation.
The union believes its member was killed at approximately 6.25pm
yesterday (Tuesday) evening after being trapped in a papermaking
machine. Unite’s condolences will be sent to the family and they
will of course receive the full support of the union.
