News from Labour - new drive to boost skills in oil and gas

Labour has promised a major new drive to reinforce the skills base in the oil and gas industry and has backed the bid to put Aberdeen in the forefront of the proposed Energy Technology Institute. Allan Wilson MSP, the party's spokesman on energy, yesterday proposed an Oil and Gas Academy based in Aberdeen in order to support training and skills conversion.

Union survey reveals threat of further industrial action over pensions

Amicus, the trade union, which represents 10,000 workers in the financial sector, has revealed the results of an online survey of 2,000 of its members across Ireland, and four out of five confirmed they would be willing to take industrial action to protect their long term pension security. Looking to the longer term, over three quarters are concerned about potential changes to pension schemes.
