TUC logoBristol, Cardiff, London, Leeds, Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow, Manchester

12 – 29 October 2010

The TUC has organised a series of half-day regional briefings on the new agency worker regulations and how unions can win equal treatment and permanent employment for agency workers. To attend the events - which are only open to union officials and reps - you will need to register with the relevant regional office in advance (contact details below).

Delivering equal treatment for agency workers

For years trade union members have been campaigning for a fair deal at work for agency workers in the UK and across Europe.  In October 2011 the new Agency Worker Regulations are expected to become law.  The regulations will help to end discrimination for agency workers on basic conditions including pay and holidays, and prevent degrading treatment.  These half-day briefings will provide an introduction to new equal treatment rights and seek to help unions to:
end casualisation in the workplace

  • bargain for equal pay and permanency for agency workers
  • ensure agency workers get better holiday entitlements
  • use new information rights to map where agency workers work and negotiate for equal treatment
  • win real changes in workplace conditions for agency workers and vulnerable workers.

Who should attend?
The event is free and is being run for workplace reps, branch secretaries, regional officers, and union organisers.
