Unite signs recognition agreement with London and North Western Railway

4th August 2009

Unite, the UK’s largest trade union, and London and North Western Railway (LNWR), the Crewe based train maintenance company, have today (Tuesday) signed a trade union recognition agreement which entitles over 100 rail workers to be represented on both an individual and a collective basis.

Bob Rixham, Unite national officer for railways, said: “The Unite members at LNWR have been fantastic and delivered a vote of over 70 per cent in favour of recognition. They like many others in the industry realise they deserve professional representation that Unite will provide.

“The future is bright and Unite looks forward to working with LNWR to grow the business and provide much needed employment for the residents of the Crewe area.”
