Unite's reaction to the proposed merger between CFS and Britannia

Unite national officer, Rob Macgregor said, "Providing that
Britannia members vote in favour of the merger, the full
integration of the two businesses will take some considerable time,
potentially 3 years or more. There is unlikely to be any major
impact on staff for some considerable time and there will be no
compulsory redundancies in the branch network.
This is a good news story amidst all the gloom in finance. The
merger of a co-op and a mutual has only been allowed by the
Butterfill Bill which was passed earlier this week."
