Unite reaction to job cuts at Royal Sun Alliance

Unite regional officer, Martin McKeown, said: "Unite is disappointed by the 1,200 job losses announced by Royal Sun Alliance. We have been involved in consultation with the company and both parties remain committed to mitigating the consequences of this decision.

"Our immediate priority is to communicate with our representatives and members to ascertain their reaction to this announcement.

"Unite will oppose any compulsory redundancies arising from this exercise."
