Unite invites London Underground to resolve tube dispute
4th August 2009
Officials and lay representatives from Unite the union met
yesterday (Monday) with senior London Underground Limited managers
and presented a formula which would avert further strike action on
the tube system over the 2009 wage negotiations.
Unite represents over 600 members working at London
Underground Limited that work as engineers, technicians,
managers and administrators.
John Morgan-Evans, Unite regional officer, said: “In order to
find a constructive way forward Unite, following consultation with
our reps, has submitted a proposal that would form the basis of
further discussion. We recommend this to the company as a way of
resolving the current impasse and preventing further disruption to
the tube service.”
“Though London Underground Limited management reaffirmed their
current position on their final offer, they did agree to put the
Unite proposal to the London Underground Limited board.”
Unite expects a considered response in a week's time.
