Unite's reaction to NAG job cuts
14 November 2008
Reacting to Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank's outsourcing
announcement, which will impact 350 jobs. Unite's national
secretary, Mary Alexander said: "Outsourcing is a bitter pill to
swallow. The industry is engulfed in crisis and staff across the
financial services are worried about their jobs. NAG have committed
to avoiding compulsory redundancies but our members still feel very
let down.
"Their hard work and commitment has
helped to turn around NAG’s fortunes in the past four years. The
company has just delivered an underlying profit increase of 12% in
a very difficult financial environment. This is in no small part
down to the workplaces where they are now shedding jobs."
The changes will take effect gradually from January through to
September 2009. NAG have confirmed that they will maximise
redeployment for displaced people to minimise redundancies.129
roles are being outsourced to AXA and 78 roles will be made
redundant. The remaining 143 jobs will be moved to other parts of
the NAG business.
